At Gold Star Plumbing & Drain, we believe in the power of community. Through our Project Goldstar outreach initiative, we aim to support local families in need. This Thanksgiving, we were honored to host a meal for Wendymay and her family, bringing comfort and connection during a challenging time.
A Story of Strength in the Face of Hardship
Wendymay’s family has endured significant hardships over the past few years. They have faced the heartbreaking loss of her niece and her sister’s husband to cancer and COVID-19. In 2021, Wendymay herself experienced homelessness while managing her personal health issues. Her two teenage sons, both on the autism spectrum, require additional care and resources, adding to the family’s daily challenges. Recently, her eldest son turned 18, which led to the loss of his adoption subsidy, making the financial burden even heavier.
Bringing Warmth and Relief to Thanksgiving
When we learned about Wendymay’s situation, we knew we wanted to offer her family a moment of peace and joy. Hosting a Thanksgiving meal was a simple yet meaningful way to show them they’re not alone. For one day, they could focus on laughter, love, and enjoying a delicious meal—a welcome reprieve from the pressures they face. The warmth of the gathering brought comfort to the family, reminding them that community support can make a real difference in their lives.
