Project Gold Star: A Story of Strength and Support in the Face of Tragedy

In life’s most difficult moments, compassion and community can be a lifeline. Recently, Gold Star Plumbing and Drain had the privilege of helping a local client through our Project Gold Star program, providing support during an unimaginable time of loss and hardship. This time, we assisted one of our team members, Clayton Komos, who is one of our top plumbers in the company.

A Sudden Halt

In October 2023, Cyndi (Clayton’s mother) and Malcolm Books lost their home to a fire. Just three days later, a hot spot reignited, leaving nothing behind. As they tried to rebuild their lives, Malcolm fell gravely ill and passed away before he could return home. In the midst of grieving her husband, Cyndi faced another setback—the fire had severely damaged the sewer system, halting the rebuilding of their home and threatening to deplete her savings.

At Gold Star Plumbing and Drain, we believe in doing more than just plumbing work; we’re here to lift our community. Through Project Gold Star, we stepped in to minimize the cost of the sewer repairs, helping Cyndi preserve her savings and allowing her to focus on healing. It wasn’t just about fixing pipes—it was about bringing hope and relief during a time of overwhelming grief.
